Liga Contra el Cancer joins SKY to implement preventive campaigns…

In order to promote a culture of prevention among the population and support low-resource cancer patients nationwide, SKY Airline and the League Against Cancer signed an alliance for the implementation of diagnostic campaigns for this disease. Through this milestone, the airline will expedite the transfer of the institution’s medical team to carry out preventive checkups throughout the country.

The League Against Cancer, at the end of 2023, managed to provide more than 200 thousand services nationwide, which saved the lives of thousands of Peruvians. Thanks to the collaboration with the airline, the reach will be expanded to more regions and the services provided in the mobile units. The latter function as specialized outpatient clinics that will permanently provide a clinical diagnosis and guidance to strengthen the practice of healthy living in the intervened population.

«We are very happy to announce our alliance with the League Against Cancer, because cancer is one of the main causes of death in Peru. We hope to help more people access quality healthcare, no matter where they come from. With this, we want to make not only the plane available to everyone, but also cancer prevention,” said José Raúl Vargas, general manager of SKY in Peru.

It should be noted that the synergy between both brands is part of the “SKY Commitment” program, which seeks to bring air transport closer to the most remote communities, increasing the chances of recovery for cancer patients and improving their quality of life. For this reason, the signing of the commitment will not only contribute to early and accessible oncological detection for the population, but will also shorten the time and distance for specialists to travel to other regions of Peru.

«We are excited to have this alliance with SKY since it envisions bridging gaps and social distances, and being able to bring our preventive programs closer to the most vulnerable populations. Detecting cancer early can make a difference and save many lives,” said Damary Milla, general manager of Liga Contra El Cancer.

For its part, the League Against Cancer seeks to reduce the incidence of this disease in the public health system. Given this, throughout the year, educational and preventive campaigns are carried out to raise awareness about the importance of performing periodic examinations, which constitute an efficient mechanism to identify a potential neoplasia in time.
