Santo Domingo, RD.- The Pro-Pedernales Trust, the entity that manages the new tourism development in the province of Pedernales (Dominican Republic) promoted by the government, reported the details of the award of the construction of the Cabo Rojo International Airport.
The winning company of the public tender was a Spanish company Acciona Construction SA, a company that has built more than 10 airports globally.
Specifically, the base proposal was RD$3,640 million (US$61 million) and Acciona presented an economic offer of RD$3,961,295,253.98, this represents 8.83% more.
However, as a general rule, tenders do not only take into account the price and according to the general director of the DGAPPSigmund Freund, Acciona achieved the best total score in the evaluation of the technical proposal for being the company with the most experience and conditions of the three prequalified.
«When the economic envelope was opened, and even though Acciona Construction SA’s was the highest economic proposal of the 3 that won the tender, it was awarded because of the difference they had in the technical part over the others,» they say from the DGAPP.
The other companies that have participated in the tender have been Consorcio Aeroportuario del Sur, made up of Alba Sánchez & Asociados, SAS; Pedernales CR Consortium, made up of Ingeniería Estrella, SA; Remix, SA;Nacir Consortium, made up of IDC Construction, SRL; Pedernales Airport Works Consortium (COAP), made up of ISECON Engineering Services and Constructions, SRL and Oviedo Consortium, made up of J López Constructora, SRL
In this sense, in the ‘top 3’ the result of the public contest was the following: with 93.34 points, Acciona; with 92 points, Consorcio Pedernales; and with 86.38 points for Remix.
Based on the qualification, the construction of the international airport terminal, which is being built in Oviedo, was awarded to the “Offerer/Proponent Acciona Construction, SA, for complying with all the technical and economic requirements requested by the Pro-Pedernales Trust indicated in the Terms and Conditions and their respective annexes.”
It is recalled that the Cabo Rojo International Airport, Pedernales, will be built in the Los Tres Charcos community of Oviedo, where the Government began clearing work in November 2023.
The terminal would be the starting point for international flights that will bring tourists to Pedernales to the hotels being built.
